ArmInfo. Groundless protraction of ratification of the Armenian-Turkish
Protocols and the attempts to link this process with the Karabakh
conflict may hinder both processes, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward
Nalbandian declared in his speech at the 17th OSCE Ministerial Council
in Athens on Wednesday.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry reported Nalbandian as touching upon the
issues on agenda of the OSCE. The minister came out for improvement
of mechanisms of European security and development f a new system of
European security that would be all embracing, as well as acceptable
and equal to every country. The minister attracted the attention of
the OSCE Foreign Ministers at violation of international agreement on
armament limitations, the frequent militarists statements addressed
to Armenia and open violation of one of the basic principles of
the International Law i.e. non-use of force or threat of force,
by Azerbaijan. The Armenian foreign minister thanked international
community for support to the Armenian-Turkish normalization process.

He highlighted that all the countries except Azerbaijan have supported
the Armenian-Turkish process. Azerbaijan is against normalization of
relations between Armenia and Turkey hereby opposing not only the basic
principles of the OSCE but also the entire international community. The
minister made a point of ratification of the bilateral Protocols.

As regards the negotiations for settlement of the Karabakh conflict,
Edward Nalbandian highlighted the importance of maintaining the
positive dynamics achieved during the meeting of Armenian and
Azerbaijani presidents and avoiding any steps aimed to break the
peace process. He mentioned as an instance the statement made by his
Azerbaijani counterpart a few minutes before his speech wherein the
Azerbaijani minister again tried to distort the core of the Karabakh
problem and the negotiation process.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
