/PanARMENIAN.Net/ On November 6, newly-appointed Georgian Ambassador
to Armenia Grigol Tabatadze presented his credentials to RA President
Serzh Sargsyan. Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment,
RA President especially noted the age-long friendship and relations
of the two states. "Our relations need permanent attention and
improvement. This is a reason our Ambassadors have to intensify their
efforts," the President emphasized.

According to Grigol Tabatadze, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili
supports development of relations with Armenia and believes bilateral
friendship and collaboration have no alternatives. At the same time,
he noted, that Georgian government gives high assessment to Armenian
President’s political views, considering him a politician who looks
into the future without forgetting about the past.

The parties agreed there isn’t a problem the two states would be
incapable to resolve through bilateral dialogue.

The parties also discussed issues on Armenia-Georgia collaboration’s
and joint intergovernmental committee’s agenda.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The reconstruction of St. Kirakos church of Diarbekir
(historical name: Tigranakert) was not Turkey’s initiative; the idea
was proposed by Istanbul Armenian community with the participation
of Archbishop Aram Ateshyan, primate of AAC Patriarchate in Istanbul,
Turkish studies expert Ruben Melkonyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

A recent fire seriously damaged the building which is in a rather poor
state, he said, adding that "Only walls and pillars remain standing,
so its still early to speak about restoration."

According to some documents discovered from Diarbekir archive,
certain buildings belong to either Armenian communities or churches and
schools, Armenian expert noted. Relevant Legal processes are currently
under way. "As mentioned by one of Diarbekir officials, half of the
town will be recognized as Armenian in case those documents prove
legal," Melkonyan stressed.

At the same time, he didn’t rule out possibility of Turkey’s attempting
to impede the process of church reconstruction since Crosses on domes
of Armenian churches arouse Ankara’s fears. "No church in Western
Armenia has a cross on its dome. That’s Turkey’s state policy,"
Armenian expert said. At that he noted that Turkey’s initiative may
be viewed from two angles: as PR reaction on one hand and distortion
of Armenian architecture on other.

"In almost all their statements, Turkish officials remind that they
are reconstructing Armenian churches," Melkonyan said, adding that
architects do not always obtain the true image of construction as
a result of restoration work. In that regard, he estimated Armenian
architects’ non-involvement as a great disadvantage.

ARMENPRESS
Nov 6, 2009

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS: About 16,721 babies were born
in Yerevan as of November 1. Head of the mother and child health
protection department of the Health Ministry Karine Saribekyan
told Armenpress that the ministry is conducting monitoring both in
Yerevan maternity houses and in the provincial ones connected with
the functioning of the birth certificate system. Works are being
carried out to increase the level of awareness of pregnant women.

"The results of the monitoring witness that the system is functioning
effectively, there are positive responses both from pregnant women
and doctors. No issues have aroused during the process," K. Saribekyan
said.

Non-governmental organizations are involved in the monitoring and
are working with the mothers after they are signed out from hospitals.

K. Saribekyan did not exclude the cases of giving money to doctors.

"Many financially insured people give money to doctors as an expression
of gratitude. I think here we must seriously work to change the
mentality of the people. Even if they express gratitude unequal
conditions are created among the patients," K. Saribekyan said.

Foreign Ministry Of Nagorno Karabakh Republic Sent An Open Letter To

FOREIGN MINISTRY OF NAGORNO KARABAKH REPUBLIC SENT AN OPEN LETTER TO THE CHIEF EDITOR OF BERLINER ZEITUNG NEWSPAPER

ARMENPRESS
Nov 6, 2009

STEPANAKERT, NOVEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS: Foreign Ministry of Nagorno
Karabakh Republic sent an open letter to the chief editor of Berliner
Zeitung newspaper.

"Unfortunately, we should state that having overcome thousand
kilometers, journalist Tobias Asmuth presented a superficial and
distorted article to the readers of the newspaper, without inquiring
the causes and essence of the Karabakh issue. Similarly, the author
could easily write a number of analogous articles, staying at home
and using various sites. However, if freedom of speech and press is
equivalent to a sin against truth for the Berliner Zeitung, then it
is quite a different matter," the open letter says.

According to NKR Foreign Ministry’s press service, having personally
visited the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, Berliner Zeitung newspaper’s
correspondent, if even desired, couldn’t but notice that the people
who had experienced terrible hardships, destructions, and grief in
an unequal struggle had, however, managed to realize its right to
self-determination, heroically stand all the calamities of the war,
restore its state infrastructure, and implement radical reforms for
establishing a state corresponding to the European standards.

"After the World War II, the Germans dreamed for an integrated state
and lived with this idea tens of years. We don’t think that the German
nation’s aspiration can be questioned by any other nation.

Exactly 20 years ago, the Berlin separating wall was destroyed in just
a few days by the will of the great powers, and the Germans not only
reunited, but also gained full-fledged independence, on the occasion
of which we congratulate this distinctive and gifted nation of the
Old World. Nagorno Karabakh gained its independence, having, first of
all, neutralized the Azerbaijani aggression, defending the lives of
children, women, and old people. Just that’s why nobody can question
the will and right of Nagorno Karabakh’s people to independence. In
other words, nobody brought the independence and right to free life to
Nagorno Karabakh on a tray. And if today’s population of our Republic
makes only 140 thousand, then it is also a vivid demonstration of
Azerbaijan’s evident anti-Armenian policy; otherwise, over a million
and a half of Karabakhi Armenians and their descendants would not be
citizens of other states today. So, like Germans in the recent past,
today we are also striving for our sovereignty.

The Germans have, for many years, cherished as relics the stones
and fragments of the once separating Berlin Wall. The situation is
totally different in Nagorno Karabakh. Here, the shrines are the
marble tombstones of soldiers perished at the Karabakh War for the
independence of their homeland. The correspondent of your newspaper
could not but notice that," the letter says.
