ISTANBUL, JULY 6, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. The Marmara
daily reports citing unofficial sources that the headmasters of the
Karagjozian Tun and Gatygjugh’s Aramian- Uncuyan schools in Istanbul
were relieved of their positions. Some teachers were also relieved
of their positions, some of which look for a job in other schools.

The Marmara daily is worried that today a lack of qualified teachers
and directors is noticed at Armenian schools. The orders of the
district officials and trustees to relieve the pedagogues of their
positions in recent years call forth much concern in the community. The
teachers and headmasters feel insecure and uprotected. According to
the newspaper, unfortunately, there is no higher educational body or
educational council which can protect the rights of the pedagogues.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
