Habitat for Humanity Armenia has partnered with Yerevan-based
Urban Foundation for Sustainable Development, thus renewing the
already existing cooperation between UFSD and Habitat for Humanity
International. This partnership will allow HFHA to implement its
activities aimed at improving housing conditions of low-income families
throughout Armenia.

"Both HFHA and UFSD target the improvement of housing conditions
for the vulnerable rural and urban populations in Armenia," said
Habitat for Humanity Armenia Executive Director Irina Vanyan. "Our
collaboration assumes joining efforts in different areas, in particular
provision of affordable housing opportunities, developing of policies
aimed at eliminating poverty housing in Armenia, as well as carrying
out specific activities within the housing sphere. UFSD is one of
our experienced partners that will enable us achieve our established
goals in a professional manner."

Based on all the abovementioned, an Agreement of Cooperation has been
signed between the two parties in February 2009.

"UFSD is proud to have HFHA its partner," said Urban Foundation for
Sustainable Development Board of Trustees member Hayastan Stepanyan.

"There are many commonalities between the ideas, strategies, and
practices of the two organizations. We value HFHA efforts to improve
the housing conditions in Armenia and are glad to have our modest
contribution in accomplishing that common goal."

Within the framework of this partnership, USFD will furnish HFHA
with expertise services focused on improvement of housing conditions,
of housing management, and the environment around housing.

For the past months, UFSD has played an effective role in implementing
Habitat housing projects targeting the Armenian villages of Khachik
and Nshavan.

"In the future, UFSD expects to continue and expand successful
collaboration with HFHA in the areas of housing provision, condominium
building strengthening, and national housing policy research,"
added Stepanyan.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
