President’s Working Visit To France

PRESIDENT’S WORKING VISIT TO FRANCE

On November 4 the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan had a meeting
with the Prime Minister of France Francois Fillon and Chairman of the
French Senate Gerar Larchen, in the frameworks of the President Serzh
Sargsyan’s working visit to France. During the meeting the sides highly
assessed the existing Armenian-French friendly relations in political,
economic, cultural and social spheres. Armenian president pointed out
the traditional warm attitude of the Armenian people towards France.

After the meeting with French Prime Minister and Chairman of the
Senate, Armenian president met with world famous singer Charles
Aznavour. In the afternoon President Serzh Sargsyan met with his French
counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy. The presidents of the two countries
discussed a wide-range of issues on bilateral cooperation, current
round of Nagorno Karabakh conflict regulation, Armenian-Turkish
dialogue, recent events in the region, Armenia-EU cooperation.

Armenian and French presidents said they are pleased with the
continuation of traditional warm relations between the two countries
and agreed to continue high level contacts which will promote the
further expansion of Armenian-French cooperation.

S. Sargsyan pointed out the important role of France, as a co-chairing
country of the OSCE Minsk Group, in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict
regulation process. French president expressed his support to the
diplomatic efforts towards the regulation of Nagorno Karabakh conflict
and ongoing Armenian-Turkish political dialogue.

S. Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the French president for the
support of France in granting Armenia status of associative member
of World Francophone Organization. The heads of the two countries
pointed out the important role of Armenian community in consolidation
of Armenian-French friendship.

At the end of the working visit to France, Armenian president gave
interviews to a number of leading French media.
