CHANGE OF ZHARANGUTIUN FACTION HEAD CONDITIONED BY RAFFI HOVANNISIAN’S BEING VERY BUSY

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 9, NOYAN TAPAN. The change of the head of the RA
National Assembly Zharangutiun (Heritage) faction is conditioned
by the fact that faction leader Raffi Hovannisian is very busy
and is often away from Armenia. Armen Martirosian, faction’s newly
elected head, reported at the September 9 press conference adding
that Zharangutiun has adopted a principle, according to which, all
posts can be transferred. "Of course, posts will be transferred,
but R. Hovannisian will always remain Zharangutiun’s leader,"
A. Martirosian emphasized.

Meanwhile he said that this change does not imply that R. Hovannisian
will be isolated from party and parliamentary work, on the contrary,
he will have a possibility to promote more active activity abroad. "At
present Armenia is in a situation, which needs undertaking certain
steps in foreign policy. And R. Hovannisian having these possibilities
and contacts, in essence, will promote active activity in the issue
of Armenia’s defence and presenting its interests properly abroad,"
A. Martirosian said.
