YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 8, NOYAN TAPAN. Problems related to the current
situation in the South Caucasus, the process of solving the Karabakh
problem, and Armenian-Turkish relations were discussed at the
September 8 meeting of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and the
OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s special representative on issues of the
Nagorno Karabakh conflict Goran Lenmarker, NT was informed by the RA
president’s press service.

S. Sargsyan underlined the danger and the unpromising character
of attemps to solve conflicts by force. In his words, Armenia
anticipates the response of the respective international structures
to the unprecedented increase of military potential by some regional
countries and their bellicose statements.

G. Lenmarker said in his turn that the latest events in the region
showed that conflicts cannot be resolved by war, and a real solution
can only be achieved through peace negotiations.

He expressed a high opinion about Armenia’s policy in the region and S.

Sargsyan’s invitation to Turkish President to watch together a match
of Armenian and Turkish football teams.

Noting that it was a difficult but necessary decision, S. Sargsyan
said that any problem should be solved by talks, negotiations. "I
have no illusions that all the problems will be solved in a short
period but I consider launching the process as correct," the Armenian
president stated.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
