Haigazian University’s Alumni Reunion: Promoting Unity… Celebrating
Peace

Beirut, 15/07/2008- On Thursday, July 10, 2008, a big number of
Haigazian University alumni attended a reception dinner, which took
place in the Mugar Garden of the University.

The theme of the reunion, Promoting Unity…Celebrating Peace, was a
perfect opportunity for the old graduates, to return to campus and
reconnect with each other, especially after last May’s political
turmoil, which kept most Lebanese apart.

The program opened with the welcoming words of Mira Yardemian, the
University’s Public Relations Director, who appreciated the fervent
response of the alumni, to come in such big numbers showing gratitude
and respect to their university.

University President, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian briefed on the recent
developments at the University, such as the graduation, the US
accreditation process, the site work of the newly acquired heritage
building and the USAID grant. Haidostian invited all alumni to always
help and support their university.

Raja Mouawad, from the class of 2005, was the Master of Ceremony,
musically helped by Jihad Wehbe on the guitar.

Artist Andre Kalfayan added value on this special event by transforming
a white canvas into a beautiful art work.

Towards the end a lottery draw of 3 prizes (air ticket to Cyprus, a
painting and a necklace) were distributed to lucky winners.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
