FERRAHIAN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES ITS SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

The Gabriel Injejikian Scholarship Fund Awarded It’s
First Annual Scholarships

Encino, Calif., June 22, 2008 – The Ferrahian Alumni Association (FAA)
distributed its first annual awards from The Gabriel Injejikian
Scholarship Fund during the graduation ceremony of the 2008 Senior
Class, on June 22, 2008. This year’s $200 award recipients were Danielle
Zepure Tognozzi, Sareen Matt’ Nersis, Garbis Gary Kharadjian, Andre Haig
Aroyan, and Sarine Daghlarian, all of whom are children of Ferrahian
Alumni parents.

The Gabriel Injejikian Scholarship Fund was established by the FAA in
January 2008, through the generous donations received during the January
11, 2008 Reunion Banquet honoring Mr. Gabriel Injejikian, the founder
and first principal of the very first Armenian high school in North
America.

One of the goals of the FAA is to create and maintain a strong community
of Ferrahian alumni by providing networking opportunities and support to
its growing list of members (more than 1700 at this time). Earlier in
June, the FAA hosted a lunch on the school grounds for the 2008
graduating class in order to introduce the soon-to-be members to the
organization and its purpose.

The President of the FAA, Monica Patanian, congratulated and officially
welcomed the new graduates as the newest members of the Ferrahian alumni
family during the graduation ceremonies. Her remarks to the Seniors were
followed by the surprise announcement that the FAA would be donating
$20,000 toward the renovation of the gymnasium floor at the Encino
campus.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
