Armenian, Swiss Foreign Ministers Meet In Yerevan

ARMENIAN, SWISS FOREIGN MINISTERS MEET IN YEREVAN

On June 27 RA Foreigbn Minister Edward Nalbandian received the
delegation headed by Member of the Swiss Federal Council, Foreign
Minister, Mrs.

Micheline Calmy Rey.

Greeting the Foreign Minister of Switzerland, Minister Nalbandian
noted that Armenia attaches importance to the reinforcement of
multifaceted cooperation with Switzerland. It was noted also that
the bilateral relations between the two countries continue developing
rather dynamically.

Mrs. Calmy Rey appreciate dthe level of political dialogue betwene teh
two countries, noting that this was greately promoted by reciprocal
visits over teh past few years. The parties confirmed that the
positions of the two countries overlap on a number o international
issues, the effectiveness of cooperation within international
organizations was underlined.

Minister Nalbandian stressed taht ever since independence Switzerland
has been actively contributing to Armenia’s development and reforms
and underlined the necessity for taking concrete steps targeted at
the development of trade-economic ties with Switzerland.

The two Ministers turned to the simplification of the visa regime
between Armenia and Switzerland. Mrs. Calmy Rey informed about the
intention of the Swiss side to appoint a diplomatic representative
to Armenia.

The interlocutors discussed the negotiation process over Nagorno
Karabakh settlement, reference was made to Armenian-Turkish relations.
