CHAIRMAN OF PRECINCT ELECTION COMMISSION SENTENCED TO 2 YEARS IN PRISON

YEREVAN, April 17. /ARKA/. General jurisdiction court of Erebuni and
Nubarashen communities of Yerevan sentenced the chairman of district
election commission N 13 Seyran Mkrtumian to two years in prison. He
was returned guilty on counts under article 150 of the Criminal Code
(rigging results of elections).

The preliminary investigation showed that the count of ballots in
district election commission N13 in Erebuni community was conducted on
February 23 in the presence of proxies, mass media representatives,
international observers and the chairman of the commission. During
the count 151 ballots in favor of Ter-Petrosian were found in the
envelope with the ballots in favor Serge Sargsian.

Seyran Mkrtumian rigged the results of the recount of ballots to hide
the inaccuracy established.Mkrtumian pleaded guilty.
