reported.

During the meeting John Prescott noted that as a European structure
PACE has already given an assessment to the elections. `I reconfirm
that assessment. I hoped that our conclusion would not be used as a
proof of the arguments of this or that party, but would be conceived as
a sincere evaluation,’ Mr. Prescott said, adding that the observation
mission is preparing another report that will reflect both the results
of vote recount and the decision of the Constitutional Court. He
underlined that his conclusion about the elections remains the same.
John Prescott noted that he is going to present certain proposals to
overcome the society’s trust in the elections and promote the dialogue
between the political forces.

As for the state of emergency imposed in the capital, Mr. Prescott said
any government is eligible and obligated to establish order in the
country. John Prescott welcomed Serge Sargsyan’s suggestions to form a
coalition, establish dialogue and cooperation. According to the Prime
Minister, the Armenian authorities are ready to do the utmost to lift
the state of emergency in the capital as soon as possible, realizing
that they are responsible for the security of the people, establishment
of law and order. Serge Sargsyan underlined that people need certain
time to think, to evaluate the events to be able to distinguish the
criminal elements from peaceful population, to reveal the original
reasons of the incident.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
