YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 25, NOYAN TAPAN. "I have not met anyone who would
call into question the market economy in his pre-election program. I
do not think that there can be any contradiction or contrast in
terms of reforms and establishment of market economy in Armenia,
the RA minister of trade and economic development Nerses Yeritsian
stated on February 25 when responding to NT correspondent’s question:
"Taking into account the results of the presidential elections and
the subsequent developments, is there a political consensus on the
issue of implementing reforms in Armenia?"

During the event dedicated to the presentation of the European Bank
for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) report entitled "Report
on Transition Process in 2007. The Life at the Transitional Stage",
N. Yeritsian said referring to the report that "there is a need for
serious capacities so that we will be able to improve the quality
of state services". "Services should not be provided as a favor: the
person receiving a service should have status of customer. In parallel
with the growth in people’s needs (which happens irrespective of us),
this barrier will increase, and the implementation of reforms in the
state sector is our challenge," the minister said.

According to him, everybody wants such reforms to be made, and the
Armenian government has set itself the goal of implementing these
reforms.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
