ROUNDTABLE ON 2008- YEAR OF KARABAKH HELD

Roundtable on 2008-year of Karabakh was held by Public Association
"Protection of rights of migrants and IDPs in Azerbaijan" and
Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan. The chief of
the Social Unity professor Nadir Abdullayev opening the meeting said
that, 212 Turkish NGOs made a statement on announcing 2008-year of
Karabakh. He noted that Azerbaijan should join this action and carry
out several events with Turkish NGOs. Editor of Voice of Karabakh
newspaper, Gadir Nasirov appreciated the initiatives of Azerbaijani
NGOs and Turkey in the direction of this issue. He expressed his
confidence that 2008 will be an important year in the settlement of
conflict. Military expert, resigned Colonel Ildirim Mammadov stated
that settlement of conflict was passed through military operations.

Azerbaijan will gain Karabakh only through military operations of
Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

Esmira Orujova, chief of Hesret Yolu Public Union took into account
Azerbaijani hostages and captives during Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

There were about 5,000 Azerbaijani missing people during the war.800
of them were captives. Appeal to state bodies, NGOs and mass media
was adopted in the event.
