YEREVAN, DECEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS: Assistance to Armenia, a charity
organization, based in the Swiss town of Schafhausen, plans to reopen
a white wine factory in the town of Ijevan in the province of Tavush.

This organization’s chairmen Mihran Baronian, an ethnic Armenia,
said to Armenpress that the winery has been idle since the collapse
of the Soviet Union.

He said an area of 100 hectares will be planted with high quality
grape.

"Our goal is to have a winery that will produce high quality white
wine," Baronian said.

He said some $500,000 are needed for the first phase of
re-commissioning the winery, which may start selling its products
2-3 years later.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
