/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenian Prime Minister Serge Sarsgyan met
yesterday with Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis,
the RA government’s press office reported.

Welcoming the guest, PM Sargsyan said Armenia highlights cooperation
with the CoE.

For his part, Mr Davis said he was glad to get familiarized with some
historical and cultural sites in Armenia, specifically the Matenadaran,
Memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims, temple of Haghpat.

During the meeting the parties discussed Armenia’s integration into
European structures, They agreed that it’s essential to make the 2008
presidential elections an advance as compared to the parliamentary
elections.

Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mr Davis said the Council
of Europe is not a passive observer of the problem but contributes to
establishment of trust between the sides. Welcoming this position,
Serge Sargsyan said that at the current stage any partial approach
of organizations or individuals can become a tool of pressure on the
OSCE Minsk Group or the conflicting sides.

In conclusion, the interlocutors voiced assurance that thanks to
efficient cooperation Armenia will timely and properly fulfill all
obligations undertaken at the entry to the Council of Europe.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
