Prospects of Cooperation

Prime Minister of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Vice President of Asian
Development Bank Liqun Jin, Armenian Government press-service told
ArmInfo. Liqun Jin said the bank is ready to contribute to the Armenian
Government implementing programmes of restoration of community roads,
development of water supply system in regions and stimulation of the
private sector. The sides discussed the conditions and possibilities of
cooperation. ADB Vice President expressed satisfaction with the fact
that the Armenian Government programmes are in harmony with the
priorities and approaches of the bank.

As it was reported earlier, a credit programme of the Asian Development
Bank worth $66 million may start in Armenia in 2008. The programme is
to be implemented by 2010. ADB will allocate $30 million for
restoration of 223 km of rural roads of vital importance. The remaining
$36 million will be spent on development of the water supply system in
villages.

Armenia became a member of Asian Development Bank in September 2005. It
holds 0.301pct stake in the bank’s authorized capital or 10.557 shares,
24.566 voting shares or 0.55pct.
