On June 6 in an interview to "Day.az" news agency Foreign Ministry of
the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said that Russia’s priority in
South Caucasus is the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation
with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Russia’s policy in that region is aimed at preserving peace, stability
and prosperity.
To the question about the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
Lavrov answered, "Russia’s position on Karabakh is well known. As a
member of the OSCE Minsk Group, together with the USA and France Russia
renders active assistance to Baku and Yerevan in finding mutually
convenient solutions". The Russian Defense Minister reminded that on
the last G8 summit the presidents of the member-states supported the
efforts of the Minsk Group and called upon Armenia and Azerbaijan to
make the settlement terms agree.
