CONVOY FROM RF MILITARY BASE IN GEORGIA TO REACH GYUMRI SOON

A motorcade from Russa’s military base 62 in Akhalkalaki, Georgia, Àas
crossed the Georgian-Armenian border and in several hours will reach
the Russian military base in Armenia’s Gyumri, an aide of the Ground
Troops commander-in-chief, Igor pKonashenkov, told Itar-Tass on riday.

"A convoy that left Akhalkalaki early on Friday anÐ crossed the border
between Georgia and Armenia without any problems will reach Russian
military base 102 in Gyumri at 13:30," he said.

The convoy includes nine trucks carrying special equipment and material
and technical property.

"By the end of the year we plan to send another two motorcades from
Georgia to our base in Gyumri," he said.

Konashenkov pointed out that it is also planned to send 19 railway
echelons with arms and hardware from Russian military bases in Georgia
to Russia and Gyumri.

"By this Russia strictly complies with the agreement on the terms of
the pullout of Russia’s bases from Georgia," he said.

He recalled that military base 62 in Akhalk’laki should be closed by
late ±007, and base 12 in Batumi – during 2008.
