SYRIA OFFERS CONDOLENCES FOR THE DEMISE OF ARMENIAN PREMIER

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – Minister of Information Mohsen Bilal on Wednesday
offered condolences, on behalf of the Syrian government, to the
Armenian Embassy Charge d’ Affaires for the death of Armenian Prime
Minister Antranik Markarian.

The Minister wrote a word in the condolences’ Record in which he
expressed sincere sympathy to Armenia and Markarian’s family, wishing
the country more progress and development.

Precipitations, Mainly Snow, Forecast Until March 30 In Armenia

YEREVAN, MARCH 28, NOYAN TAPAN. Precipitations, mainly snow, are
forecast until March 30 in the territory of Armenia, especially in
the eastern regions.

No precipitations are forecast on March 31 and precipitations are
again forecast on April 1-2.

As Noyan Tapan correspondent was informed by Gagik Surenian, chief
specialist of Haypethydromet Department’s Meteorological Forecasts
Unit, the temperature will not change in the country until March 30
and from March 31 to April 1 it will rise by 4-9 degrees.

>>From March 29 to April 2, maximum temperature in country’s valleys
will be +19 and minimum temperature +3, in mountainous regions +9
and -10, respectively.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Today Armenia bids farewell to Prime Minister
Andranik Margaryan. Yesterday President Robert Kocharian, NA Speaker
Tigran Torosian, Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan and other officials
attended the civil funeral. The official farewell ceremony is taking
place at the State Academic Opera & Ballet Theater of Armenia named
after Al. Spendiaryan at the moment. At 3 p.m. Andranik Margaryan
will be buried in the Pantheon named after Komitas.

Delegations from a number of states as well as NATO Envoy for South
Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simmons and Deputy Assistant Secretary
of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, OSCE MG Co-chair Matthew
J. Bryza arrived in Yerevan to participate in the funeral.

Andranik Margaryan died on March 25 afternoon from a cardiac arrest
caused by loss of circulation of the blood in coronary vessels.

Van to take part in the inauguration of the Church of St. Cross on
Akhtamar island. As a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter came to know from the RA
Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs, the delegation is led by Deputy
Acting Minister of Culture Gagik Gyurjian. The delegation includes
Mrktich Muradyan, Director of the Institute of Architecture at the RA
Academy of Sciences, Ruben Safrastyan, Director of the Institute of
Oriental Studies at the RA Academy of Sciences and Artem Grigoryan,
the Head of the Department for Protection of Historical Monuments at
the RA government.

The inauguration is due on March 29. Representatives of the Echmiadzin
and Cilician Catholicosates of the Armenian Apostolic Church refused
to take part in the event, since St. Cross will function as a museum
but not as a church.

message to the RA President on the death of Prime Minister Andranik
Margaryan, reports the Armenian Public Television. His message says,
in part, "With a deep sorrow I learned of the untimely death of Prime
Minister Andranik Margaryan. We lost a political figure and sincere
patriot devoted to his life-work.

Andranik Margaryan was France’s friend. Being at the head of the
government he promoted development of relations between our states
and peoples. On this sad day, I extend my condolences to Andranik
Margaryan’s family and all Armenian people."

Speaking at the funeral ceremony of RA Prime Minister Andranik
Margaryan, the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II said in part:

"Dear Mr. President, mourning widow and children of the late Prime
Minister, pious people,

All of us are grieving. With the pain of loss and sadness in our
hearts we bid farewell to the beloved politician and statesman,
the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Andranik Margaryan,
who passed away untimely, leaving a kind memory.

We all have before our eyes his life inspired by values. Carrying
the love for motherland in his heart, still in his young years
he participated in the struggle for independence, defense of the
fair demand of the Armenian people and fulfillment of the national
dreams. He saw the revival of independent statehood and contributed to
the construction of a new life in Armenia. He correctly conceived his
power and position as service to people and the years of his tenure
in office as RA Prime Minister stood out for self-sacrificing work
and everlasting achievements for the sake of progress in the country
and well-being of our people. He left a good example of patriotism
to us and the generations to come.

The memory of Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan will remain bright
in our souls. We pray to God to accept the soul of the late Prime

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited the Armenian Embassy
in Russia to extend his condolences on the death of RA Prime Minister
Andranik Margaryan. Writing down in the condolence book, he expressed
compassion to Armenia and Andranik Margaryan’s relatives, emphasizing
that Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan made a great contribution to
the development of Armenian-Russian relations.

Armenian Ambassador to Russia Armen Smbatyan told Armenpress that
condolences were extended also by the Secretary General of the
Collective Security Treaty Organization Nikolay Bordyuzha, about
50 Ambassadors accredited in Russia, representatives of RF State
Duma. In his words, representatives of differ rent social classes
are visiting the Embassy – Russian citizens, representatives of the
Armenian community, schoolchildren. Condolences were expressed by
famous pediatrician Leonid Roshal, sculpture Nikolay Nikoghosyan.

Representatives of the Moscow City Hall are also expected to visit
the Embassy. According to Armen Smbatyan, the Azerbaijani Embassy in

of the Armenian journalist Hrant Dink.

Chairman of the Council of Federation of Russia Sergey Mironov declared
in Baku today that "2007 must bring the view of the Karabakh conflict
resolution if not the solution itself. He said that being a Co-Chair
country of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia "takes all efforts to resolve
the conflict." "If there is a conflict between two countries, in
this case Azerbaijan and Armenia, the key of its resolution is the
