PARTY HEAD ATTACKED IN DOWNTOWN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS: Harutyun Arakelian, the chairman
of the Ramkavar Azatakan (Democratic Liberal) party, was attacked
yesterday in downtown Yerevan at about 5.20 p.m., when leaving the
party office. A senior member of the party’s governing board, Karen
Kakoyan, said Arakelian was assaulted by two unidentified men who
pulled him down and began to beat and then fled the scene by a car.

Kakoyan said Arakelian has reported the attack to the police . Kakoyan
explained the attack by Arakelian’s political activity saying he had
no personal enemies.
