/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The recurrent meeting of the Presidents of Armenia
and Azerbaijan will be held August 26 during the unofficial Summit of
CIS Leaders in Kazan, Armenian President Robert Kocharian stated in
Moscow in the course of a meeting with Armenian students, who study at
Moscow higher education institutions. At that he added he was not too
much optimistic over the final outcome of the meeting. «Our positions
differ considerably. We consider that there is no way back to the
previous status of Nagorno Karabakh,» R. Kocharian noted. Speaking
of the Armenian-Turkish relations, R. Kocharian reaffirmed Armenia’s
readiness to establish relations without preconditions. At that he
called the conditions put by Turkey over renunciation of Nagorno
Karabakh and international recognition of the Armenian Genocide
unacceptable.

Armenian speaker, European reps discuss constitutional reforms

Armenian Speaker Artur Bagdasaryan and the head of the Ago group [the
monitoring group of the Council of Ministers of the Council of Europe],
Roland Wegener, discussed today the process of the constitutional
reforms in Armenia.
The two men noted that answers to the difficult questions had been
found following lengthy discussions. Wegener spoke about the importance
of the Armenian opposition’s involvement in further discussions and
of their return to legislative activity in parliament.
Speaking about the constitutional reforms, Bagdasaryan said that
Armenia understood the importance of bringing its legislation in
line with the European standards and had taken serious steps in this
direction. One of these steps was the adoption of amendments to the
Electoral Code.

of Egypt Ruben Karapetyan presented credentials to President Hosni
Mubarak, reported the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of Armenia. In the course of the meeting R. Karapetyan conveyed
R. Kocharian’s greetings to H. Mubarak and assured that he will do
his best to further develop and strengthen the Armenian-Egyptian
mutually beneficial cooperation. In his turn the Egyptian President
asked to convey his regards to his Armenian counterpart and wished
R. Karapetyan success in his service.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ June 26 in Yerevan the solemn ceremony of handing the
diplomas of Synopsys Armenia CJSC SG also known as Interdepartmental
Chair of Microelectronic Circuits and Systems of the State Engineering
University of Armenia took place. 64 students received the diplomas. 28
of them became the first graduates of the post-graduate program
of the chair. The heroes of the occasion were congratulated by
the SEUA and Synopsys Armenia staff as well as government members,
representatives of public organizations and IT elite of Armenia. It
should be also noted that Aart de Geus, President of Synopsys, who
arrived in Armenia on 2-day visit. He noted that the company highly
appreciates the talent and knowledge of the students of Synopsys
Armenia CJSC SG. In his turn SEUA pro-rector Ruben Aghashian handed
the supreme award of the University – the Memorable Gold Order – to
the President of Synopsys. To remind, Synopsys Corporation is one of
the world leaders of producing chips and microelectronic systems. It
has representations in 60 countries of the world. The corporation has
launched its education program in 1986 and now it is implemented in
over 450 educational institutions.

Social Committee Armenia in the European Union announces that the
Committee is formed and proposes that all political and public figures,
entrepreneurs, scholars and cultural workers of Armenia, EU states and
other European countries that share the idea of Armenia’s accession
to the EU and are ready to promote realization of that goal join the
work of the Committee. Armenia in European Union is being formed to
promote Armenia’s soonest accession to the EU, as well as to work
out and implement projects to solve problems Armenia has on the way
to accession to the EU, development of economic, social, scientific,
educational and cultural ties between Armenia and EU states, reported
the Gazeta SNG.

June 27 Armenian President Robert Kocharyan sent a congratulation
message to newly elected Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The
message says in part,
“On behalf of the Republic of Armenia and on my behalf I congratulate
You on the occasion of election to the high post of President of a
friendly state. Armenia attaches great importance to relations with
Iran. I hope that during the period of your office the relationships
between our countries will develop for the welfare of our peoples. I
wish You good health and success and wish peace and prosperity to

YEREVAN, JUNE 28, ARMENPRESS: One of the most vehement critics of
Armenian authorities called today on the opposition and pro-government
forces to throw away their differences and join efforts for bringing
the country’s constitution in conformity with true democratic
standards.
Shavarsh Kocharian, a parliament member from the opposition Ardarutyun
(Justice) alliance said there is now a good opportunity to take
up the Council of Europe recommendations and revise a package of
constitutional reforms, developed by the ruling coalition and approved
by parliament in the first reading, which he said is more important
now than the opposition-authorities standoff.
Shavarsh Kocharian, who is also a member of Armenian delegation to
PACE, said revolutions are made to change constitutions and make
them democratic.
“If we have now this chance to carry out these reforms why should we
miss it? ,” he said.

Mr. Kim Jae-Sup (residence in Moscow) presented copies of credentials
to Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian, reported the Press
Service of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the course of
the meeting Mr. Oskanian congratulated the diplomat on the appointment
for the Office and wished good luck in that important mission. The
interlocutors discussed prospects and opportunities of promotion of
commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries, outlined
those fields, where high cooperation indicators can be achieved by
common efforts already today. Thereupon the importance of a legal
framework, organization of regular consultations between the Foreign
Ministries of the two countries, as well as stimulation of mutual
contacts between private sectors was mentioned. The interlocutors
exchanged views over a number of international issues, specifically
the future UN reforms. Having thanked for the warm reception, Kim
Jae-Sup appreciated the high level of the Armenian-Korean relations
and noted the importance of establishment of wider cooperation of
Armenia with Asia states.

Andranik Margarian will pay a formal visit to Lithuania June 29-July1
on invitation of Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas,
RA government’s press center reported. During the visit Andranik
Margarian is scheduled to meet with President Valdas Adamkus,
Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas and Seimas Chairman Arturas
Paulauskas. The Armenian Premier will also take part in the opening
of the Armenia-Lithuania business forum and meet with representatives
of the Armenian Diaspora. The delegation members are expected to hold
meetings with their Lithuanian counterparts.

Armenian President welcomed the company and wished the activities
were enlarged. ~SArmenia has chosen high technologies as a priority
direction and rates the development of the field to be very
important~T, Robert Kocharian stressed. In his words, the field is
gradually developing and serious business is being formed. He also
informed that the e-service system is being applied to the various
fields of public administration, what is an important step towards

principal directions of their activities in Armenia. He noted that
efficient cooperation with the Armenian institutes of higher education
