So many people said, “We brought peace”, they brought an end to the economic war in Russia

The economy is what keeps the country. the economy is not governmental or oppositional, the economy is not pro-Russian or pro-Western. Party chairman Gagik Tsarukyan mentioned this in a conversation with journalists during the PAP campaign.

Referring to Russia’s imposition of restrictions on Armenia, he noted that Armenia’s economy is on the verge of collapse today because of these authorities.

“It is the economy that feeds the people. If it is destroyed, what will happen?” The economy either develops, works, or collapses at once. Today we are on the verge of destruction, who will support this people, who will feed them, who will pay off the loans? People will lose their property completely, it cannot be like this. They only talk emptyly that we have alternatives. The alternative is that one was closed, the other is opening, and that is not the case today,” Tsarukyan said.

According to him, they said “we brought peace” so much that they ended the economic war with Russia.

Yesterday, during the campaign in Vanadzor, Tsarukyan also spoke about the youth, our future generation, that they should not be disappointed.

“Young people are the main hope of our country, it is necessary to create such conditions in which the youth will be able to realize themselves in the homeland. The most important thing is that they do not lose confidence in themselves, can live in their homeland with dignity, develop. We must do everything so that they do not break down in front of difficulties, do not fall into despair and do not lose hope,” he emphasized.

From June 2, the Russian Federation limits the import of fish products from Armenia

Photo: RBK

As of June 2, Armenia is suspending veterinary certification of live fish and fish products exported to the Russian Federation for almost all local companies, except for two enterprises that have successfully passed inspections.

According to the Russian side, such a decision was based on the inspections carried out in the Armenian fish processing and trout breeding farms between May 21 and 27. It is noteworthy that exactly half of the Armenian enterprises refused to participate in these inspections, which led to the suspension of export rights until the final settlement of the situation.

The two companies that remain free from the current restrictions will be allowed to continue supplying Russia, but the import of their products will be carried out exclusively under the condition of laboratory monitoring of safety indicators.

In May, Russia restricted the import of a number of goods from Armenia. Among the restrictions are agricultural products, flowers, as well as some wines and cognacs. The Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Maxim Reshetnikov, stated that Russia fills the main volume of these products with its own forces, so the restrictions on Armenia will not have a negative impact on the Russian markets.

During the pre-election campaign meeting of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Malatia-Sebastia administrative district, the law enforcement officers did not allow local resident Mariam Vardanyan to approach the head of the government to express her complaint.

A woman mourning the loss of her son and searching for her missing grandson tried to convey a symbolic “black heart” to the Prime Minister, as a counterpoint to the official symbolism used during the campaign. The old woman criticized the authorities, claiming that the priority for the country’s leadership is to preserve their own position.

During the incident, some of those present and the police officers tried to obstruct the filming of the journalists, after which the protesting woman was removed from the gathering place.

Recently, in the background of several incidents registered with the participation of the parents of their children and the discussions on the subject of Artsakh, the security measures of the Prime Minister during the meetings have been significantly tightened.

Export bans to Russia will be lifted after the elections. Gevorg Papoyan

The authorities of Armenia expect a gradual and quick cancellation of restrictions on the export of local products to Russia after the end of the parliamentary elections.

RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced in the framework of the pre-election campaign in Yerevan that the Moscow bans are purely technical in nature, and their main addressee is not the Ministry of Economy, but the Food Safety Inspection Body. The minister informed about the meeting held in Astana between his deputy and his Russian colleagues, emphasizing the positive atmosphere of the negotiations.

According to him, all parties tend to solve the problem as soon as possible, which will allow to settle the situation within short deadlines after the end of the voting.

At the same time, Yerevan is simultaneously expanding the geography of foreign trade in order to export to Greece, Germany and other countries. According to the head of the department, new support programs for exports to the European Union and the Middle East are currently being introduced, which include reimbursement of expenses related to transportation, customs duties and intellectual property.

Papoyan noted that the volumes of exports to the EU have already doubled, and by the end of the year, the goal is to quadruple or quintuple that figure.

Earlier, the Russian leadership announced the inevitability of a strategic choice between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), stressing that rapprochement with Brussels may cause certain problems within the framework of the Eurasian integration union.

The situation worsened at the EAEU summit held in Astana at the end of May, where the member states of the union – Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan – issued a joint statement calling on Yerevan to hold a national referendum in the shortest possible time frame in order to clarify the foreign policy vector. In addition, the partners initiated the preparation of a report on the economic consequences of the possible suspension of Armenia’s membership, which will be presented at the December session of the Higher Eurasian Economic Council.

Despite growing diplomatic pressure, Nikol Pashinyan reaffirmed Armenia’s willingness to continue calm and orderly work in the EAEU until the choice between the two economic blocs becomes inevitable.

Eleveight AI and the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia have launched cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, with an MoU signed in Gagarin, Gegharkunik Province, where the next-generation AI data center, powered by NVIDIA Blackwell B300 GPUs, was opened.

At a press conference, Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan said that the conceptual approach of the Armenian government is that the country should soon become an AI hub, or, as he described it, a “garden of AI factories,” and that it should transform from a user and consumer of technology into a producer, creator, developer, and exporter of technology.

“In the near future, together with Eleveight AI, we will hold discussions in very specific areas with various government agencies, as well as different stakeholders in the technology community, to understand how we can direct part of those resources toward meeting specific needs here in Armenia,” Minister Hayrapetyan said.

The minister noted that the state also seeks to contribute to the development of the artificial intelligence sector and to encourage innovators, startups, individual researchers, and research groups to engage in artificial intelligence technologies.

“Eleveight AI should not only export computing resources; it should also offer cloud services to domestic players who need such computational capacity—and, to our delight and that of the state, this need is growing day by day,” he said. “This means the company must cooperate with the government to identify strategic points where collaboration can take place, both with the public sector and with actors in the technology community,” he added.

He further noted that, to implement this concept, the state has established a Virtual Artificial Intelligence Institute, which serves as a channel for aggregating computing resources and distributing them in the form of industry subsidies.

Eleveight AI founder and CEO Arman Aleksanyan emphasized the importance of having viable text-to-speech and speech-to-text models in Armenian.

“Since everything is developing and changing very quickly, we need some kind of conceptual framework so that we can plan the directions of cooperation,” he said.

The launch of Eleveight AI is seen as an important step for Armenia’s technology sector, positioning the country as a regional hub for AI infrastructure.

Visa liberalisation remains one of the Armenian government’s priorities, and every effort is being made under the coordination of the Interior Ministry to ensure that all measures envisaged in this direction are implemented on time and to the required standard.

Armenian Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan made the remarks at the launch event of the programme “Support to the Dialogue on Visa Liberalisation in Armenia in the Areas of Border Management, Document Security and Law Enforcement Reforms”.

“I am pleased to state that today we are launching a programme that is the first of its kind in the Republic of Armenia, with visa liberalisation as its primary focus,” the minister said, thanking European Union partners for providing financial support for the initiative and helping bring it to life.

Sargsyan also thanked partners from Lithuania, noting that a close partnership had been established and that the programme’s implementation would continue through joint practical cooperation.

“From the ministry’s perspective, cooperation with EU member states is particularly important. It is essential that we continue not only our dialogue with the EU, but also develop close and constructive partnerships with member states, because ultimately they are also involved in making decisions regarding visa liberalisation.

I am pleased that the Republic of Lithuania is now entering a second phase of cooperation with Armenia’s Interior Ministry, and I am especially pleased that the programme’s main focus today is visa liberalisation,” she said.

The minister expressed confidence that the launch of the programme provides further evidence that Armenia and the European Union remain committed to deepening their relations.

Sargsyan noted that the programme has a total budget of 2.5 million euros, representing another EU contribution to the implementation of sectoral reforms in Armenia.

EU Ambassador to Armenia Vassilis Maragos began his remarks by expressing appreciation for the work carried out by the staff of the Interior Ministry under Sargsyan’s leadership. According to Maragos, Lithuania and Latvia will provide Armenia with support in implementing specific reforms.

“In my view, the purpose of this programme is clear: it is important that the European Union not only discusses with Armenia what needs to be done, but also provides assistance, resources and exchanges of experience so that this action plan can be implemented more smoothly,” he said, stressing the importance of the quality of the measures being carried out and compliance with the relevant benchmarks.

The EU ambassador noted that Armenia has already undertaken substantial work in the areas of integrated border management and the introduction of a biometric system. However, he said, additional exchanges of expertise with the European Union, particularly Lithuania, which has successfully completed a similar process, remain highly important.

Lithuanian Deputy Interior Minister Gintaras Aliksandravičius said it was a great honour to attend the launch of a programme aimed at supporting Armenia’s reform process related to visa liberalisation with the European Union.

“We are committed to sharing our experience and providing practical support to ensure that this programme delivers meaningful and lasting results,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the programme’s launch would provide an important foundation for a long-term process, and that coordination and determination would help achieve the shared objectives that have been set.

Yerevan does not consider the scenario of leaving the EAEU. Mher Grigoryan

Photo: regionstv.am

At this stage, the Armenian government is not considering the issue of leaving the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and will think about the choice between the European Union only when the issue is sharply put on the agenda. RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan stated this in an interview with the Russian media, emphasizing the pragmatic nature of the current economic interaction.

According to the deputy head of the executive, Yerevan does not consider it appropriate to carry out calculations of possible economic losses related to the reduction of ties with the Eurasian integration union, because the authorities simply do not discuss such a negative scenario.

Referring to the recent obstacles in the field of export of Armenian goods to Russia, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his belief that they are of purely technical nature and hopes that the problems will disappear soon without long-term impact on bilateral trade. In addition, Mher Grigoryan has fully shared the prime ministership Nikol Pashinyan adopted the concept of the state policy of enriching the country.

These statements are made against the background of active discussions about the foreign policy orientation of the republic. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Yerevan should make a final decision, either staying in the EAEU or seceding from the union in a civilized way, for the sake of rapprochement with the EU.

In response, Nikol Pashinyan stressed that there is no objective need to leave the Eurasian bloc, despite the fact that in March 2025, the Armenian National Assembly adopted the law on starting the EU membership process.
