Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan told a news conference on Friday that all efforts are being made to expand the groups subject to coronavirus testing.

According to her, they include all the at-risk groups that may have contracted coronavirus, such as health workers, patients with pneumonia, etc.

"Thanks to the expansion of the laboratory network, today we have a capacity to perform around 1,000 tests a day," the health official said.

According to Nanushyan, the works to isolate people with COVID-19 continue to prevent the further spread of the infection.

The deputy health minister said that they cooperate with other countries and international organizations in order to use the new knowledge to save more lives.

Presenting the fresh figures, she said the cases of COVID-19 in Armenia reached 2,148 on Friday morning, with 977 recoveries and 33 deaths.

In total, 1,136 coronavirus patients are currently receiving treatment. As many as 22,177 tests have been performed in the country since the disease outbreak, she said.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
