I will not hide that there were also discussions in Minsk about the General Secretariat of the CSTO. Ararat Mirzoyan, Acting First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, announced this in a conversation with journalists.
He constructively assesses the discussion on the General Secretariat of the CSTO with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during the small session of the Prime Ministers of the EEU countries in Minsk.
Ararat Mirzoyan replied to the question whether the issue surrounding the CSTO General Secretary and the latest statements were discussed with Lukashenko. “I represented Armenia in the EAEU Governmental Council, within the framework of which a meeting of prime ministers, including me, was held with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with
During the meeting, various issues were discussed, including complex issues, including those not directly related to the EEU, but related to other formats of this partnership, I will not hide it, we also talked about the General Secretariat of the CSTO. Of course, I won’t give details, because it was a closed discussion, but I can assure you that the discussion and the position of the Russian Prime Minister, the President of Belarus, and our other partners were quite constructive.”
He confirmed that they also talked about Lukashenko’s meeting with the ambassador of Azerbaijan, to which Nikol Pashinyan reacted strongly. “We talked about all nuances, all sub-issues, but with your permission I will not give details.”
When asked to what extent he considers this controversy resolved, Mirzoyan answered: “It’s not a contradiction, I would call it a problem. If there is partnership in different formats, there are also problems that are solved or not solved. This is one of those problems. Of course, the issue was not resolved yesterday, because first of all, it was not that format, this was an EEU meeting, not a CSTO meeting, naturally, it could not be resolved. But soon another meeting of CSTO will take place and then maybe the issue will be resolved. The discussion I participated in was very constructive.”
