New Electoral Code rejected

With 56 “for” and 3 “against”, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia rejected the draft law “On making amendments and supplements to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia “Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia””.

Let us mention that, nevertheless, there was no consensus between the political forces in regard to the amendments to the new Electoral Code since the political opposition, namely the Republican Party of Armenia, was against the urgent amendments that were proposed and presented the justifications for being against those amendments in a statement that the Republican Party of Armenia had issued earlier.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
