The criminal case against the citizen of Turkey for illegally crossing the state border of Armenia was terminated by the relevant authorities of the Republic of Armenia based on humanitarian considerations. This was reported by the Department of Information and Public Diplomacy of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to the question of “Armenpress” that there is any information about the release of 16-year-old Umut Ali Ozmen, who crossed the Armenian-Turkish border on July 24, 2018.

The boy’s father, Mustafa, stated in an interview with one of the media that he is in Armenia and informed that his son will be released.

“We informed the Turkish side about the aforementioned through diplomatic channels. Upon receiving an appropriate response, the return of Umut Ali Ozmen to Turkey will be organized,” said the response of the Foreign Ministry.
