No matter how much the authorities try to focus citizens’ attention on internal political processes and make efforts to destroy the political field, the security environment around Armenia and Artsakh is even more tense as a result of careless policies. According to Ashotyan, any desired bilateral relationship should be based on dignity, mutual respect and sovereignty, and serve the state interest of the country. “In this case, the interests of both Armenia and Russia dictate the same imperative: Armenian-Russian relations should remain strategic-alliance. The rest is a dangerous game for all parties,” he concludes.
