Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is likely to retain power and become Prime Minister after the transition to the country’s parliamentary government model. Konstantin Zatulin, vice-chairman of the Committee on CIS, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the Russian State Duma, announced this during the tour.
“The executive power, which today is shared by the president and the prime minister in Armenia, will completely pass to the prime minister, but at the same time there will be no significant changes in the government,” he said.
Zatulin announced that he sees Serzh Sargsyan as the prime minister.
“I cannot know his possible successors better than they will in Armenia, but history has proven that Armenia is capable of making such decisions that allow it to continue the path without serious internal upheavals,” stressed the Russian deputy.
It should be noted that while the members of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) are constantly announcing that they only see Serzh Sargsyan as the prime minister, the latter recently announced that he has not yet made a decision.
“The time has not yet come, when it comes I will announce it. There are various factors, from personal to other factors. I think we ultimately have the right to decide, I mean the RPA, together with the coalition partner, who can work more effectively, where,” the President of Armenia stated on the air of the “Resolution” program of the “Armenia” television company.
