Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

The press office of the head of state informs that at the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Republic emphasized with satisfaction that the year of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between RA and the Russian Federation, the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance was fruitful in terms of bilateral relations.

“Today these relations are characterized as truly allied. I fully share that opinion, because these relations at all levels are distinguished by a high level of political dialogue, broad coordination of foreign policy, fruitful cooperation on international platforms, very good cooperation in the economic, military, military-technical, and humanitarian spheres,” said President Sargsyan, highlighting the active mutual visits, within the framework of which the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, the Ministers of Industry, Education, and Health visited Armenia only in the last few months. the visit of the foreign minister is taking place.

Serzh Sargsyan also mentioned many joint events: the Armenian-Russian interregional conference, the Eurasian partnership international conference, the Armenian-Russian youth conference, the 30th jubilee session of the inter-parliamentary commission held at the beginning of the month.

Noting that the Armenian-Russian relations are consistently developing, the president emphasized that from now on, we should continue working on the development of interstate relations, strengthening the friendship of the Armenian and Russian peoples.

Foreign Minister Lavrov thanked for the reception and transferred Serzh Sargsyan to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin warm greetings, with whom the President of Armenia officially opened the “Days of Armenian Culture in Russia” with the exhibition of Martiros Saryan.

During the meeting, the minister presented the results of the meeting and discussions with his colleague within the framework of his official visit to Armenia.
