The Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Movses Hakobyan, does not know any territories, the loss of which does not endanger the security of Artsakh. tert.am writes about this.

“Today, a defense system has been created in Artsakh, in case of its disruption, the security of Artsakh will be under serious threat,” said Movses Hakobyan, answering the question whether the return of any territory to Azerbaijan could have its consequences.

Let’s remind that speaking at the Armenia-Diaspora forum about the possibility of the return of the territories, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandian stated that he is talking about the territories that do not pose a threat to the security of Artsakh.

Mosvses Hakobyan also mentioned that he cannot make any statement regarding the statements of “any politician”, a member of the government. 

The Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces did not answer the question whether he is aware that it is about handing over territories. “As far as you are aware, the negotiations are conducted by the political authority, the military leadership does not conduct negotiations.”

Movses Hakobyan said to the question whether the army will oppose the handing over of territories. “The army will carry out the order that the political leadership will decide.”

Moreover, the head of the General Staff added that Artsakh needs additional security areas that will further guarantee the security of the Republic of Artsakh.

Hakobyan also said about Russia’s arms sales to Azerbaijan. “Any weapon that Azerbaijan acquires is a threat to Armenia and Artsakh.”
