Yelk faction leaves session of Council of Elders (video)

The Yelk (Way Out) faction left the session of the Yerevan Council of Elders when the discussions on two projects, suggested by the Yerkir Tsirani party, started. The first project reffered to renaming street named after Vazgen Sargsyan and putting a monument to the memory of March 1 victims.

The Yelk faction explained that they did not approve the project on renaiming the street named after Vazgen Sargsyan.

As to the monument, the Yelk faction did not mind; but they considered the justifications to be distorted. According to the members of the faction, an attempt was made to reduce the participation of Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan in those events.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
